Are people really that stupid?

I just want to ask the question are people really that stupid? There are a number of reasons that I ask this not the least is that just about every day I either witness or hear of someone doing or behaving in a way that, to me, seems to be so absolutely stupid that I wonder what in the world is happening. Now don't get me wrong I do not pretend to have never done anything stupid, though I thought it did seem like a good idea at the time. I have noticed, as I get older, that a larger percentage of people that I encounter seem to be growing more and more clueless. Why is that? Is it just me or do others notice it? I will post examples of what I think are stupid behaviors and people on a regular basis. I would like to hear from anyone out there who might have an example to share. I would even like to be proven wrong with examples of intelligent people. I will end this first post with my favorite way to explain people lately. "Never underestimate how stupid someone is. They are a hell of a lot dumber than you give them credit for."
